The essay Commercial GPL presents a framework for the analysis of the business case in favor of GPL open source. Here, the secondary problems are presented.
First is the acceptance of the GPL in the commercial world. The pitch must be made for sharing the business model, and how the business model depends on this license. And, a permissive license like Apache or BSD fails to support the business model. This is intended as a test of requirements, as well as a component of planning and marketing.
Second is the implications of the GPL in the software ecosystem. Whether valued partners would be impacted, whether planned or future elements of the business model would be impacted, and how these issues trade against the business model. The LGPL may solve integration problems.
